Sweet Relief: Non-visual Editor
I’ve always eschewed, if not outright hated, WYSIWYG editors, from the early, incredibly crappy HTML editors like GoLive and Dreamweaver to the recent yet still incredibly crappy TinyMCE. I upgraded WordPress a little while ago, and have done nothing but struggle against the new and improved visual editor. I can’t write HTML, the anchor button used to insert a link doesn’t work for me, and I can’t click on the “code” tab, so I can’t even write straight HTML.
Today I discovered the “Use rich text editor” checkbox on the edit user page in wordpress. I was clued to it from this WordPress support page. I’m glad that I have the option to write HTML again, and I’m looking forward to writing some more posts. First thing, I’m going to clean up my previous post about RubyOSA. The rich editor mangled it so many times that I finally gave up and left it with HTML hanging all over the place.
