outside.in launched

by cory on October 24th, 2006
I never pulled an all-nighter or requested an extension on a paper in college. Over time that became a point of pride, that I could get the work done on time by planning ahead. Unfortunately, writing papers is different than creating websites. There's no clear finish line with a website; the number of potential features to be added is limited only by the imagination, and with the great team that we put together at outside.in, we definitely haven't been very limited. Since I'd been working well past midnight most of the past week anyway, I vowed to myself last night that I wouldn't leave the office until I was done, and so, with a little trepidation, I pulled my very first all-nighter last night. This is exactly what I have been wanting, though. Since I moved to New York I've been very keen on getting involved with a startup (and oops, I ended up on about 4) because I want the experience of working very closely with a dedicated, creative team of people, where you're small enough that everyone fills in for every role as they are able, and you get to work in an agile, flexible way. It's a high-responsibility, high-adrenaline, fast-paced job. And I love it. I see the all-nighter in an almost romantic way, too; it's a rite of passage. As Steven said, it's not a startup until someone pulls an all-nighter. I love a launch. Especially a successful one. I can feel the invisible energy of a thousand hungry users out there.
